Password Technique

Use this simple password technique to remember all of your passwords!

It seems everywhere you go on the Internet you are asked to create a new password, one for your email, one for banking, and so on. Keeping track of all those passwords can be difficult. Many of you just use one password for everything. Instead, try this simple mental technique that will create a unique password for every website, and best of all, you will remember them with no problem!

Start with a base word

Start with a 6 letter base word. For example: zebras, skycap, or any other word or combination of letters. We will choose zebras for our example. Our password so far: zebras

Select a letter

Now choose the same letter from the website name to use in your password. In our example we will select the second letter from the website. So for the following websites our password will be:

• Yahoo: azebras
• MSN: szebras
• Hotmail: ozebras

Use the same number at the end

Many websites require you have at least two numbers in your password. Pick two numbers you will always use. In our example we will use 32. Our password will then be:

• Yahoo: azebras32
• MSN: szebras32
• Hotmail: ozebras32

As you can see a hacker would need to know two of your passwords to discover your system. Highly unlikely since you will be using your head everytime to store your password!

Some Password Do's and Don'ts

• Don't write your passwords anywhere. The purpose of this simple technique is to make it easy for you and virtually impossible for anyone else to know your passwords.
• Don't use the same password for everything.
• Do use numbers in your scheme. Many websites require it, so its best to get use to it now rather then later.
